It is always advisable to check availability as early as possible to allow time to arrange for vaccinations if required and to avoid disappointment. We do not take bookings online – please telephone or call by.
Every dog being admitted to Achnabreac Kennels must have a current vaccine certificate issued by a veterinary surgeon and in addition must be vaccinated against kennel cough.
Intervet / Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals recently issued new guidance regarding their Kennel Cough vaccine. Dogs receiving the vaccination for the first time cannot be admitted into kennels until 14 days from the date of vaccination have passed. Dogs receiving their annual Kennel Cough vaccination booster, providing it has not lapsed, need not be excluded from kennels. Dogs with lapsed vaccinations must adhere to the ‘14 day exclusion’ rule.
We regret that no dog will be admitted for kennelling without a fully valid vaccine certificate. We trust that owners will regularly worm and apply tick/flea repellents to their dogs. For advice on wormers and tick/flea repellents, please discuss with your vet.
A single dog boarding will be charged at £10 per day, two dogs boarding together will be charged at £18 per day.
Please note for the purpose of boarding charges the kennel day runs 12 noon – 12 noon. For example a dog booked in on Friday 9am and collected Sunday 6pm will be charged at £40 (4 days).
Streamline Debit/Credit Card Machine
We have a debit/credit card machine installed which enables us to take payment in full at the time of booking and accordingly a cancellation penalty will now apply.
Cancellation fees will be charged thus: 100% of the boarding fee if cancellation is made within 48hrs of ‘due in’ time and 50% of the boarding fee if cancellation is made with 7 days of due in time. Cancellation fees will be refunded only if the period cancelled is re-let.
No refund or discount of boarding fees will be given if animals are collected prior to the arranged date/time.
Every dog staying with us here at Achnabreac Kennels will have regular walks on one of the many designated forest tracks that Achnabreck Forest has to offer. Should you wish extra walks for your dog or if your dog is staying with us long term we can arrange extra regular walks – please ask for details and rates when booking. For safety all dogs are walked on the lead.
Should your dog become unwell whilst staying with us at Achnabreac, he will either be taken to Dalriada Veterinary Surgeons in Lochgilphead or one of the veterinary surgeons will be asked to visit and any necessary treatment will be administered.
Each sleeping compartment is heated and fitted with a platform bed covered with fleece bedding; the sleeping compartment in turn opens onto an individual secure, covered outside enclosure.
